Terms of Service

General Provisions
The ewant Open Education Platform (hereinafter referred to as ewant) provides services according to these Terms of Service. Please read carefully.
These Terms of Service apply to the services of this platform (including but not limited to the use of announcements, mail sending, discussion forums, and the provision of course information, etc.). Once you enter the platform website and start using any service provided by ewant and its affiliated websites, it indicates that you have agreed to, understood, and accepted and will comply with the following terms. If you cannot take the content of these terms, please do not continue using the related services ewant provided.
If you are a minor or a person who does not have full capacity for conduct, please notify your legal representative to read, understand, and agree on your behalf to all the contents of this agreement before you can use this service. However, suppose you have already used this service. In that case, it is deemed that you have obtained the consent of your legal representative and are willing to comply with all the following regulations.

Modification and Updates of the Terms of Service
ewant reserves the right to modify or change these terms at any time. If ewant to modify or change these terms, the modification will become effective immediately. We will post notice of changes by a reasonable and effective way immediately. Please notice these notifications regularly. Users continue using services provided by ewant, and are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to accept the modified terms. If you do not agree to the modified or changed terms, please discontinue using any services ewant provides.

Rights and Obligations of Accounts
To register for ewant, you must provide a valid email address and password and agree not to disclose your platform registration information to any third party under any circumstances. You also must agree to use only one account for registration on the platform and not to register multiple accounts simultaneously. Based on your learning needs, you must provide the minimum necessary personal information to verify your identity. Therefore, you must ensure the authenticity and completeness of the personal information provided, and you will continuously update any changed personal information; otherwise, the platform will not be able to provide you with appropriate services (such as producing certificates with correct information). If it is discovered that the information you provided is not true or complete, ewant has the right to terminate your platform usage rights. If you decide to stop using the platform, you also have the right to request in writing that ewant delete all personal data and this account you stored on ewant. Additionally, users must not obtain or attempt to obtain others' account passwords or personal data by any illegal means (such as spreading virus programs, posting URLs embedded with malicious software, using password-cracking programs, etc.). Violators, in addition to being banned, will be dealt with according to the Personal Data Protection Act and other relevant regulations in severe cases.

Fee
Most of the open course resources currently provided by ewant are available to the public for free. However, a few other services (such as physical certification exams, corporate services, specialized classes, credit courses, etc.) may charge a fee due to the expenses incurred in providing these services. The revenue from fees will be invested in developing the ewant platform and promoting the open education movement.

User Data
The platform services of ewant allow you to share your content with course instructors and/or other learners, such as assignments, quizzes, forum posts, user surveys, etc. These contents produced by you while using the platform, along with your learning records, are collectively referred to as user data. You own all intellectual property rights to the user data you create and share and are responsible for it. You can freely choose whether to provide personal information. If you do not provide, or provide incorrect information, ewant will neither be able to provide related services and issue certificates nor protect your rights.
Within the scope of your user data, you agree to grant ewant a fully transferable, royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable, non-exclusive, global license, allowing ewant to reproduce, distribute, publish, modify, publicly perform, and publicly display these user data statistics and explanatory texts without involving specific personal data. This license also allows ewant to share user data of those registered for a course with material providers, institutions, and instructors.
Suppose your personal information is reported or found to be impersonated, stolen, or inaccurate. In that case, ewant has the right to stop providing services to you and is not liable for any compensation for your loss of rights. We reserve the right to delete or modify user data for any reason, such as violating terms of use, offending other users, or discriminatory behavior.

Notice on the Collection of Personal Information
Based on the provisions of the Personal Information Protection Act, you are informed about ewant's collection, processing, and use of personal information as follows:
1. **Purpose of Collecting Personal and Course Information: ** For course management (such as class organization, grade calculation, announcements, newsletters, proctoring, certificate issuance, and accommodating the academic requirements of various institutions) and to enhance the quality and experience of digital course learning, ewant will collect your personal and course information for interpretation and analysis. This is to support adaptive learning and improve learning outcomes. Using user data by ewant will not exceed the necessary scope for platform services and educational research purposes.
2. **Types of Collected Data: ** Personal information includes name, nickname, email address, identity type, school, student ID, department, and class; course information includes test scores, learning records, response records, and system click records.
3. **Duration and Objectives of Using Personal Information: ** ewant may reasonably use your personal information during the duration of the collection purpose or as required for business execution. ewant's partner institutions, instructors of the courses you take, and other public or non-public organizations with business dealings with ewant may use the data after undergoing an application process and review.
4. **Rights of the Data Subject under the Personal Information Protection Act, Article 3: **
- (i) The right to inquire, request access to, or request copies of personal data. ewant may charge a necessary fee as per the law.
- (ii) The right to request supplementation or correction of personal data. However, in accordance with Article 19 of the Enforcement Rules of the Personal Information Protection Act, you must appropriately explain the reasons and facts.
- (iii) The right to request cessation of data collection, processing, or use, and request deletion of personal data. However, ewant may not comply with your request if it is necessary for legal obligations or business execution.

Platform Activity Specification
If the content posted by ewant users involves the following situations, system administrators have the right to remove inappropriate comments, and in severe cases, users may be subject to suspension:
- Content that involves intimidation, threats, or against the reputation of others.
- Content that involves discussion of illegal behaviors or activities and abet others to engage in such illegal behaviors or activities.
- Content that infringes intellectual property right, such as illegal use of copyrights, trademarks, or trade secrets.
- Content includes improper disclosure of contract secrets, trust documents, and so on.
- Content that involves obscene erotic or too bloody and violent words, audios and videos or pictures, and relevant URL links.
- Content that involves advertising merchandise or promotion for specific merchandise.
- Content that violates other users or visitors (such as involving discrimination of race, religion, sex, nation, disease, disability, and so on, or inappropriate speech involving insulting, ridiculing, using words with sexual harassment, and so on.)
- Content violates the law.

Delete and Prohibit Posts in the Forums
The ewant forums provide a place for users to make comments, ask questions, answer questions, or get feedback. System administrators of ewant reserve the right to supervise and control the content and related hyperlinks of each post in the forums. If inappropriate speeches and content or links to inappropriate websites are found, our system administrators reserve the right to remove them and make a warning. Recidivists or users violate these terms in severe cases, our administrators reserve the right to terminate the users’ right to speak in ewant and to suspend the users’ account to protect other users. At the same time, ewant disclaims and is irresponsible for the inappropriate content posted by the user.

Copyright Protection
Inappropriate copy and commercial sales behavior are prohibited for all resources in ewant. Users cannot use or reprint both ewant registered trademark and teaching materials illegally in public. Users agree with the following matters without authorization:
1. Users cannot engage in remaking, reproducing, copying, spreading, reselling, or conducting commercial use to earn personal benefits by using platform resources, posts, and uploaded files posted by other users without authorization.
2. Users cannot use the logo or name of ewant or our associate institutions to carry out activities without authorization. On the contrary, to post documents (including words, pictures, audios and videos, software, music, and so on) on ewant, users must be authorized by the intellectual property owner legally in advance.

Fair Use of Teaching Materials
All teaching materials provided by ewant (including text, images, audio files, software, etc.) are the intellectual property of ewant or specific schools and are protected by intellectual property law. By agreeing to the terms of service, ewant allows you to access these course resources on the platform. You must agree that the downloaded materials are for personal learning purposes only, not for commercial use, and you guarantee that you will not illegally copy, distribute, reproduce, or sell the materials provided by ewant. You must carefully consider the use of the materials and abide by the above statement. If there are special needs for using other teaching materials (such as for academic research or assisting vulnerable groups for legitimate and non-profit purposes), you should contact us in writing to apply for authorization for use.

Course Guideline and Certificate
ewant provides online courses and mini-programs for users to learn professional knowledge. ewant and lecturers reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or reschedule class hours. ewant also reserves the right to adjust homework, examination, or grading policies. If the above situation occurs, lecturers are obligated to notify all the users of the course as soon as possible. Once users complete all the course requirements set by lecturers, they will receive a “course-passing certificate.” It will be noted that this certificate is granted by both ewant and specific lecturers of the course. But it does not represent to be granted by ewant and particular schools. ewant reserves the right to evaluate whether it is suitable to grant this certificate for the particular courses or not. The certificate does not include approval of credits from particular schools. Lecturers who participate in ewant are also not obligated to help users get approval for credits from specific schools. The format of the certificate varies from courses to courses; users’ grades are not going to be shown on the certificate for sure. It must be agreed by ewant if specific schools want to charge for credits or certificates. Users have to agree not to forge certificates which is given and approved by ewant. If it is found and affirmed that users are doing so, they will be subjected to the crime of Offenses of Forging Instruments or Seals of criminal law and sent to legal treatment.

Courses Selection Policy (Add Courses After Dropping)
There are two situations of pressing “unenroll Self” icon, one is by accident, and the other is by intention. All these two situations may lead to the elimination of course progress records and examination records. To prevent these situations, ewant will automatically restore the course progress record for users who add the same course after dropping it. This special design is to avoid the conditions mentioned above, it is not a design error.

Upload Teaching Materialss
ewant allows users to upload documents, such as in feedback forum. You agree the uploaded documents are limited used for academic research by ewant and specific schools. You still own the right to these documents, could claim their ownership of uploaded documents, and reserve the right not to provide to ewant for any reasonable use and conservation. In Forums, you can also provide relevant feedback and agree ewant to reserve the permanent right to use of feedback that is allowed to be revised and changed within a reasonable range.

Extended Resource Links
ewant provides hyperlink function for users to connect to other external websites. However, since it is difficult to check all the URL links and to confirm the correctness of the contents these links provided or even the usage security for ewant and its partner schools, ewant is not responsible for checking the external URL links are authentic and harmless. ewant advises users to always click external URL links from reliable sources. To protect personal information from leakage and the security of your computer, do not click URL links from unknown sources.

Digital Education Research
ewant and the course teaching team use your learning process records in the course to promote digital education development for educational research and course management purposes, but it will not affect your learning rights and assessment results.
The platform learning records and other personal data used by ewant for educational academic research purposes are generally reported in a group and an aggregated manner. The report will not reveal your identity or private information unless you have explicit written consent.
ewant may share platform records with academic institutions or researchers outside the platform for education and scientific research purposes. Such shared data will not include information that can directly identify you. Researchers outside the platform intending to apply for educational data for research purposes must submit a written application to the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Open Educational Resources Research Center, according to the "ewant Education Network Research Data Application and Usage Operation Guidelines." Researchers need to explain the purpose of the research, the identity of the researchers, the data access items, and the expected analysis results, among other research plans. After approval by the center's data analyst and supervisor, the data can be obtained.
Researchers using ewant data for research purposes should apply for review approval from an ethics review committee approved by the Ministry of Education or collaborate with the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Open Educational Resources Research Center to jointly conduct research and apply for review approval from the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Human and Behavioral Research Ethics Committee.
