摘要

Learning Physics through Anime, Manga, and Science Fiction Films brings physics to life through the worlds of anime, manga, and science fiction. Each lecture uses a featured work as a starting point to explore the scientific ideas behind its imaginative scenarios. By examining these stories through the lens of physics, students will discover that science can be both entertaining and inspiring, while gaining a deeper understanding of physical concepts in a fun and engaging way.

從動漫畫及科幻電影學物理」有別於傳統物理課程,「引人入勝」的特質,參與授課成員除了物理界教師,還包括活動動漫畫及科幻研究方面的專家。在一個個講次中,先由介紹一部動漫畫作品的內容開始,配合多媒體放映,以動漫畫中天馬行空的情節吸引學習者興趣,再切入以物理角度來解析該作品中的科學問題,帶領學習者一起思考,體會其中令人深思或莞爾的部分,如此重複,以維持學習者的新鮮感。

課程目標

This course uses anime, manga, and science fiction films to introduce and explore fundamental concepts in physics. By analyzing the science behind imaginative stories and memorable scenes, students will strengthen their understanding of physical principles while experiencing a creative and engaging approach to learning. The course aims to demonstrate that physics is not only intellectually rewarding but also closely connected to popular culture and human imagination.

 

動漫畫及科幻電影一直是年輕族群所熱愛的娛樂媒介,從這幾年來國際書展動漫館及漫畫博覽會場場爆滿的盛況、以及超級英雄類型科幻電影的票房長紅現象,即可看出其廣大的影響力了。而近年來國際上也興起一個風潮:以動漫畫及科幻電影裡出現的情節為範例,和物理學的內容相結合,以「寓教於樂」的方式使學生興味盎然地學習物理。

課程內容

Guided by the principle of learning through entertainment, this course uses anime,manga, and science fiction films to spark students’ interest in physics.Through the analysis of imaginative stories and scenarios, students will explore fundamental physics concepts while challenging the common perception that physics is difficult or uninteresting. The course also encourages learners
to apply scientific reasoning and critical thinking when examining the world around them.

To support learning, short quizzes related to the weekly topics will be provided throughout the course. As a final project, students will select an anime,manga, or science fiction work of their choice and analyze its scientific aspects using the concepts and scientific perspectives introduced in class.

 

本課程主要是從「寓教於樂」的精神出發,利用動漫畫及科幻電影等大眾娛樂媒體,激發學生對物理的學習興趣,除了扭轉一般人常有的「物理是枯燥乏味」的刻板印象,達到科學普及的目的之外,也鼓勵學習者以科學精神及方法看待世間的事物。 預計每週都安排與上課內容相關的小測驗,以衡量學生學習成效。 課程最後也將要求學生提出一份報告,從上課所學到的科學精神及知識出發,讓學生自己從動漫畫及科幻電影中尋找適合的題材,以科學的角度對其進行分析及討論。

It is an excellent introductory course for those eager to explore the mysteries of physics, as well as those who have studied physics before but encountered difficulties.

  • Familiarity with basic concepts in physics.
