Have you ever wanted to learn Mandarin Chinese but don't know where to start?

This beginner course from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University will help you take your first steps to mastering Mandarin Chinese. You'll learn the Mandarin phonetic system and simple sentences to gain a solid understanding of the language basics.

Pronunciation is an essential part of learning Mandarin. On this course, you'll understand the features of Mandarin pronunciation that are important for mutual understanding, and build a solid foundation to develop your own accent.

Finally, you'll master Chinese numbers and the days of the week, so that by the end of the course you'll have the knowledge to start communicating in Mandarin Chinese.

課程內容

This course is organised into 4 weekly modules, guiding you step by step from your very first Chinese class:

Week 1
Mandarin Pronunciation (1/3)
Initials b/p/m/f and d/t/n/l; vowels i/u/ü and a/o/e/ê; the four main tones and the neutral tone.
Week 2
Mandarin Pronunciation (2/3)
Initials g/k/h and j/q/x; compound vowels ai/ei/ao/ou; distinguishing similar sounds.
Week 3
Mandarin Pronunciation (3/3)
Initials zh/ch/sh/r and z/c/s; vowels an/en/ang/eng/er; practising with tongue twisters.
Week 4
Numbers & Everyday Topics
Chinese numbers, age, date and time, and Chinese keyboard input systems.

上課形式

This is a fully online course that you can study at your own pace.

Over 4 weeks (about 2 hours per week), each unit combines short video lessons with interactive activities and quizzes to help you practise pronunciation and build confidence.

評分標準

Learners are assessed through the quizzes and activities in each unit. To complete the course, please finish all course units and quizzes.

A final score of 60 or above is required to be eligible for a Certificate of Completion.
