This MOOC will allow participants to gain a comprehensive understanding about principles of person-centered approach and holistic healthcare through the knowledge learning, skills practice and holistic reasoning.
Holistic healthcare is defined as full patient care with the consideration of patient’s need physically, emotionally, social-economically and spiritually while they respond to the illness and the effect of the illness on the ability to meet their self-care needs. Holistic healthcare indicates the fulfilment of multi-professional coordinated whole-person care. Therefore, medical education for undergraduate level, which offers the up-to-date holistic and person-centered approach, might enhance patient satisfaction and quality of life in healthcare.
There will be three modules in this course:
1) Engaging: a fully functioning person and person-centered therapeutic relationship;
2) Enhancing: personalized care and resilience matters;
3) Empowering: post-traumatic growth. It aims to develop the learners’ knowledge and competence of holistic care delivery through the online courses.
The learners would be expected to fully participate in the course and interact with the peers.
