Course Contents

Tea is not merely a beverage—it is a reflection of history, geography, philosophy, and human connection.

By topic discussion along with using slides prepared by the instructor and the authentic objects (realia) related to tea art including pictures, samples of various types of tea, utensils for tea brewing, this course is designed to guide students beyond basic knowledge, offering a structured and yet immersive exploration of the following themes:

• The historical origins of tea from ancient China to global trade
• Cross-cultural tea traditions in East Asia, Europe, and beyond

• Scientific classification and processing methods
• Sensory appreciation and mindful brewing practice
